# How to edit an existing project

> Open a saved layZ AI Video Editor project in the browser or with MCP, make timeline changes, and export safely.

## In the browser

**1. Open AI Video Editor**

Go to `layz.ai/app/projects`.

**2. Open the project**

Click the project card.

**3. Edit**

Use timeline, captions, graphics, and layZ AI chat as needed.

**4. Save and export**

Save, then [export](https://docs.layz.ai/video-editor/export.md).

## With MCP

1. Save any unsaved browser changes first.
2. Ask your agent:

```text theme={null}
List my layZ projects, open <project name or id>,
summarize the timeline, then <describe the edit>.
Export when I approve.
```

Tools: `layz_list_projects`, `layz_open_editor_project`, `layz_get_editor_context`, editor tools, `layz_export_video`.

If the agent reports unsaved web conflicts, save or discard browser changes and retry.
