# Script readability checker

> Check YouTube and Shorts scripts for reading grade level, Shorts fit, sentence heatmap, and rewrite tips with the layZ Readability Checker.

The **Script Readability Checker** scores narration for clarity before you record or generate voiceover. Open [Tools → Readability Checker](https://layz.ai/app/tools/readability-checker).

## What it measures

* Grade level from multiple readability formulas
* Shorts fit score for short-form pacing
* Sentence heatmap highlighting hard lines
* Structure checks and rewrite tips

## How to use it

**1. Open the checker**

Go to `layz.ai/app/tools/readability-checker`.

**2. Paste your script**

Use the exact words you plan to speak or send to voiceover.

**3. Review scores and heatmap**

Shorten long sentences, swap rare words, and break walls of text.

**4. Paste the revised script into your workflow or editor**

For Generic Commentary, update the script step before approval and voiceover.

## Credits

The readability checker does not use credits. Confirm in-product if your plan messaging differs.

## Example

**Before:** “Subsequently, one must contemplate the ramifications of algorithmic distribution upon nascent creators.”

**After:** “Next, think about how the algorithm treats new creators.”

Aim for conversational Shorts language: short sentences, concrete words, one idea per line when you will caption phrase-by-phrase.
