# Editor overview

> Tour the layZ AI Video Editor workspace: tools sidebar, preview, timeline, Properties, layZ AI, Connect AI, panel presets, and feature map.

Open a project at [layz.ai/app/projects/editor](https://layz.ai/app/projects/editor). The editor is a full timeline environment with AI assistance and MCP parity.

## Workspace

| Region | Purpose |
| - | - |
| Left tools | Media, Sounds, Text, Graphics, Stickers, Effects, Transitions, Captions, Filters, Adjustment, Settings, Connect AI |
| Preview | Playback, zoom, guides, fullscreen |
| Inspector | layZ AI chat + Properties |
| Timeline | Tracks, precision edits, markers, versions, sequences |
| Header | Save, export, panel presets |

### Panel presets

Switch **Default**, **Media**, **Inspector**, or **Vertical preview** layouts. Compact/mobile layouts tab between Preview, Tools, Timeline, and Properties.

## Record voice-over

Use the timeline **Record voice-over** control to capture mic audio at the playhead into Media and the timeline.
