# Precision edits

> Slip, roll, ripple delete, close gaps, remove silence, detect scenes, multicam, layouts, fillers, safe zones, and themes in layZ.

Open **Precision edits** on the timeline toolbar for advanced cutting and cleanup.

## Edit tools

| Tool | What it does |
| - | - |
| Slip source | Change media content without moving edit points |
| Roll cut | Move the shared cut between two clips |
| Ripple delete | Delete and close the gap |
| Close gaps | Remove empty spaces on a track |
| Remove silence | Trim quiet regions on a selected clip |
| Detect scenes | Find scene boundaries |
| Beats and sync | Align edits to music |
| Link / Unlink | Keep or separate related clips |
| Multicam | Work with multicamera cutting |
| Layout | Split-screen, PiP, grid presets |
| Find highlights | Surface strong moments / best-looking shots |
| Search transcript | Find words on the timeline |
| Cut fillers | Remove ums and filler words |
| Bleep words | Mask selected words |
| Check safe zones | Platform-aware margins; optional auto-fix |
| Apply theme | Title/caption themes |
| Remove time range | Cut a span from the edit |
| Clear timeline | Wipe the active timeline |

## Themes

Themes include Clean Studio, Noir Gold, Bold Pop, Neon Runner, Paper Cut, Boardroom, Kawaii Bubble, Y2K Chrome, Varsity Bold, Zen White, Pixel Arcade, Journal Ink. Apply to titles and captions, titles only, or captions only.

## Safe zones

Run **Check safe zones** before export so captions and graphics stay inside platform-safe margins for vertical or landscape canvases.
