# Sounds and music

> Add sound effects and music in the layZ AI Video Editor Sounds panel. Search, preview, save favorites, and place audio on the timeline.

Open **Sounds** in the editor tools sidebar to browse audio for Shorts, TikTok, and Reels edits.

## Tabs

| Tab | What it contains |
| - | - |
| **Effects** | Curated sound effects |
| **Music** | Music beds and tracks |
| **Saved** | Your favorited audio |

## Workflow

1. Search for a sound or browse the grid.
2. Preview with play/pause.
3. Add to the timeline at the playhead.
4. Save favorites to **Saved** for reuse.

## After you place audio

In Properties you can adjust volume, fades, speed, pan, EQ-style tone controls, noise reduction, normalize, and volume envelopes. See [Properties and transform](https://docs.layz.ai/video-editor/properties-and-transform.md).

Use **Precision edits → Beats and sync** when you want cuts locked to rhythm. See [Precision edits](https://docs.layz.ai/video-editor/precision-edits.md).

## MCP

Agents can search SFX with `layz_search_sound_effects` and place them with editor sound tools.
