Markers

Markers annotate the ruler. They do not render into the export.
  • Add at playhead (M)
  • Edit label, note, and color
  • Jump next (Shift+M) / previous (Ctrl+Shift+M)
  • Delete one or clear all
Use markers for “hook”, “punchline”, “B-roll swap”, or review notes for collaborators and AI agents.

Versions

  • Save version with an optional label (keeps the newest set)
  • Restore a snapshot (undoable)
  • Delete versions you no longer need
Save a version before big AI or MCP changes.

Timelines (sequences)

A project can hold multiple timelines (up to 12) that share media:
  • New empty timeline
  • Duplicate this timeline
  • Rename
  • Delete an inactive timeline
  • Export one timeline or Export all timelines in batch

Interchange export

From the timeline toolbar export icon:
  • FCPXML
  • EDL (CMX3600)
  • Project file (.layz.json)
  • Import project file (replaces current edit, one undo)

No. Export only includes rendered layers. Markers are editor metadata.
